Join us on Wednesday, October 6 at 8pm EST on @sidedooraccess for a very special return of the Latent Lounge (Tickets – http://ow.ly/bBDF50Gg4ER). We will be streaming a 70 minute pre-recorded acoustic concert featuring six brand new Cowboy Junkies songs. A couple of months ago, as Covid restrictions began to ease, a few of us who record for Latent decided to get together in a funky old converted barn, located about two hours north of Toronto, to share a few of the songs that we had been writing and developing over the past many months in isolation. Andy Maize (Skydiggers) and Michael Timmins (Cowboy Junkies) performed a handful of songs from their Townies project; Jerry Leger and his longtime bass player Dan Mock performed five acoustic versions of songs off of Jerry’s upcoming Nothing Pressing album; and Margo and Michael of Cowboy Junkies performed six brand new songs that they had been working on at The Barn over the previous few weeks. We brought along a couple of cameras and our recording gear and the result is the latest Latent Lounge, our third in the series. Mike, Andy and Jerry will be in attendance in the chat so please make sure to say hi! We have intentionally kept the cost of the ticket for this event very low in hopes that many of you can donate a few more dollars to the “Legacy Of Hope Foundation”. This is a Canadian Indigenous charitable organization with the mandate to educate and create awareness and understanding about the Residential School System. If you can afford it, please pay a little more for your ticket. All money collected by Latent Recordings over the $10 suggested ticket price will be donated to the Legacy of Hope Foundation. Alternately, you can use the Donate link or go directly to the Legacy Of Hope website. www.legacyofhope.ca.
This one is just for the vinyl lovers out there…
We are excited to announce that 2007’s At The End of Paths Taken is now available on vinyl. This is one of our favourite albums and one that kind of got lost in the music biz shuffle. It is a joy to have the opportunity to give it another life. We have partnered up again with Wouldn’t Waste Records, our friends in Denmark, and they have done another excellent job. The record sounds beautiful. It is only available through our webstore and through the WWR webstore. If you are in North America it’s probably cheapest to order it through us and if you are in the UK/Europe it’s probably cheapest through the WWR store.
While you are browsing in our store make sure to check out all the other vinyl re-releases that we have in there. We are vinyl lovers and have paid attention to the details…these all sound fantastic. In there you will find double-disc versions of The Trinity Session, The Caution Horses, Black Eyed Man and Pale Sun Crescent Moon. We also have a few left of the 500 limited edition pressing of the Ghosts/All That Reckoning double album.
So if vinyl is your thing….get shopping!…and thank you.
We hope to see you soon.

We hope everyone is doing well. It looks like most of us are almost through this craziness of the past year. And it looks like we will be back on the road this Fall so keep your fingers crossed. For those of you in areas that are still in the thick of the battle, hold on and remain safe. Here is some music that we put together and released over the past year. These are only available digitally on most streaming and download sites. Enjoy….we hope that we see some of you soon.
Michael Timmins – Improvisations From the Between Time: Four long pieces of music created by Michael during the height of the first wave of the pandemic in Spring 2020. These are guitar improvisations played overtop of various musical loops created by Michael.
Margo Timmins – The Ty Tyrfu Sessions: Cover songs recorded by Margo and Jeff Bird a few years ago that are finally widely available.
Andy Maize and Michael Timmins – Townies (an audioplay): A song cycle written and recorded by Michael and Andy. An album born of bad hockey, Covid, Black Lives Matter and age.
We have also uploaded (and are in the process of uploading) a lot of rare Cowboy Junkies albums on streaming and downloading sites, such as: Acoustic Junk; Waltz Across America; Live!; The Radio One Sessions; In the Time Before Llamas and more. So there is lots of music out there….enjoy, enjoy, enjoy. See you soon.

Michael’s first solo effort: “When my grandchildren ask me what it was like during the Great Pandemic of 2020/21, I will tell them to go listen to this” – Mike Timmins
Almost a year ago we released Ghosts as a digital-only album. As we mentioned back then, the idea was to release a double album made up of a re-mastered, re-cut version of All That Reckoning and a second disc that contains the new music, Ghosts. We feel that the two albums work best as two bodies of work but presented as one, so that one can reflect off of the other. And then this darn pandemic-thingy got in the way and all our plans were thrown to the wind.
But along with the promise of vaccines comes this promised two album vinyl set. It’s all contained in a gatefold sleeve adorned with brother Pete’s beautiful new artwork and pressed on 180g vinyl and manufactured in Germany by Optimal Media (who we feel is one of the best, if not the best vinyl manufacturer in the world…we love the sound of everything that we’ve heard that has come out of this plant). And we want to make this release very special, so we are limiting it to a run of only 500 copies, with each copy being factory numbered; and the only place to buy the album is through our webstore. And, yes, it’s expensive, because it is rare and special and worth it…and we want to get paid for our work.
The album is now available for pre-order and will be shipped to you around March 17th. If you are at all interested please order now as we will not be repressing it and when these 500 copies are gone, they are gone…just like so many things in life. This double album set will not be available on CD. To order your copy please click here.
Enjoy the music. We hope to see many of you in the not too distant future.
