River Waltz Michael Timmins 3/4 time [C] I’m going to find me a dying river and strike a deal with her I’ll say, “I’ll [F] fold you in two and I’ll carry you away to a [C] place where your headwaters will flow clean through to your [G] mouth.” In [C] return I’ll request a small sanctuary by her [F] banks where we will live with our small family she will [C] water our garden and clean the dirt from our [G] skin. As the world [F] clamours at our door we will [G] dance and not let them [C] in. And if [C] one day we wake up to a bed dry as a bone [F] find our river stolen find our sanctuary gone we will [C] stand and take stock and be grateful for what we’ve not [G] lost. We will [C] pack up our bags, pack our small family [F] head across the valley to where the aspen trees [C] shiver as they ascend – the green hills rising to [G] blue. At the [F] edge of the chopping we will [G] turn and bid fond [C] “adieu.” [F] All that I know to be [C] true is the touch of your [G] hand on my skin. [F] One look from you can so [C] easily soothe all this [G] turmoil within. As we [Dm] dance cheek to cheek with our [Am] feet so completely [C] locked in a time all our [G] own. [Dm] I stop to speak but [Am] you gently keep me [C] moving in time to the [G] song. And in a [F] voice that is [C] sloppy with [G] gin you say, “let the world [C] spin.” I’m going to find me a dying river and strike a deal with her I’ll say, “I’ll [F] fold you in two and I’ll carry you away to a [C] place where your headwaters will flow clean through to your [G] mouth.” In [C] return I’ll request a small sanctuary by her [F] banks where we will live with our small family she will [C] water our garden and clean the dirt from our [G] skin. As the world [F] clamours at our door we will [G] dance and not let them [C] in. [F] [G] [C] (this last C turns into 4/4 time and starts the opening of Bea’s Song Tabbed by bbkim |
