Cowboy Junkies Release Lost Album

We’ve always considered Sharon to be our lost child. Back in the Spring of 1989 we got together with Peter Moore and started planning our third album, the follow up to The Trinity Session. We decided to again do a one-microphone recording, so Peter Moore headed out to scout locations. One of the venues that he found was Sharon Temple, a uniquely beautiful wood building situated about an hour north of Toronto and built by a Quaker off-shoot as a place to perform music and celebrate God. We spent three unseasonably cold days there in April 1989 and Sharon was born. In the end, we shelved the album and went on to record The Caution Horses in its stead. But thirty-three years later, here she is, Sharon, for the first time on vinyl, rescued from the gaping maw of oblivion.
This album is available exclusively on 180 gram vinyl and only through our on-line store until early 2023, when it will be more widely released. It will also be available on streaming sites on Sept 30th, there are no immediate plans to release it on CD. This is a limited pressing which also includes an 8-page booklet containing liner notes by Dave Bowler (author of the band’s biography Music Is The Drug) and never before seen session photos by Chris Buck. Mastered for vinyl by Peter Moore.
This is a pre-order and will be shipped on September 30, 2022.
Guitar Tabs in progress…
I had Cowboy Junkies Guitar Tabs on the old site but didn’t bring them over to the updated site. I’ve had a few requests so I’m working on it! You’ll find the tabs under the “More” menu. If you find any mistakes please let me know. Cheers. CJ Bob
